CalorieKing and Joslin Diabetes Center have joined forces to promote healthy food choices for diabetes prevention and management through the creation of food and physical activity awareness tools to help people with or at risk for type 2 diabetes. A new, free product is the CalorieKing Food Awareness Toolbar, created to promote daily food awareness, crucial to the prevention and management of diabetes. Search it as you might Google for food data. Raw for 30 Days
A new documentary film about research concerning the use of raw food to combat diabetes follows six fast-food eating Americans with diabetes to go on a vegan, organic, live, raw diet for 30 days. Produced by Mark Perlmutter and filmed by Aiyana Elliott, Raw for 30 Days follows these patients who were supervised by Gabriel Cousens, MD, MD(H) and Helen Ross, MD at the Tree of Life in Patagonia, Arizona. The film is expected to be screened at film festivals next spring and subsequently released in theaters. A compendium DVD is also being produced about the program, which will include interviews with experts and raw food preparation demos by top chefs. (www.rawfor30days.com)
