In San Francisco (at two venues, Fort Mason and Civic Center), farmers,
slow food devotees, and food artisans, will gather at the first
Slow Food Nation, a project of Slow Food USA that explores how everyday
choices affect wellbeing, culture, and the health of the planet.
Activities that “celebrate, explore, and educate about food
that is delicious, ecologically sustainable and socially just”
are expected to draw tens of thousands. Highlights will include
tastings, workshops, films, forums, exhibits, music, and talks by
leading food experts, authors, and advocates of sustainability,
including Marion Nestle, Michael Pollan, Alice Waters, Eric Schlosser,
Wendell Berry, Vandana Shiva, and founder of Slow Food, Carlo Petrino.
